SLOWRIDE RIDES TO ULMS BUTCH BUCELLA MEMORIAL AT RACEWAY 7

Slowride, David Scott of Garland, PA returned to Northern Tier Inc. ULMS Late Model Series action, Friday night at Raceway 7 in Conneaut, OH. The Garland, PA driver would pick up his sixth career ULMS win driving the Bill Henry #21* machine to victory lane in memory of former track late model driver, Butch Bucella, who passed away earlier this week.

Erie, Pennsylvania, Chris Hackett and Toronto, Ohio driver, John Mollick paced the twenty four car field for the 30 lap $2000 to win Butch Buccella Memorial. The duo flew down the long straight stretch with Mollick getting the early edge down the back stretch to lead lap one over Hackett. David Scott would make the inside move on Hackett out of turn two on lap two for second . The quick mover was Greg Oakes who was debuting a new Rocket Chassis was already to sixth from his tenth place starting spot. As lap five clicked off the books it was still Mollick over a hounding Scott with Hackett, Mike Knight and Bob Close in fifth. The cars of Oakes and Rob Blair made the top seven cars as they were all in contention. Oakes would move into fifth on lap six as Close battled back for several laps but it was always Oakes at the scoring line. The very fast paced event quickly hit lap ten and Scott was still hounding Mollick and his patience paid off as they raced out of turn two to grab the lead from Ohio's Mollick. The leaders were in the midst of lap traffic as the race hit the halfway point without a yellow and it was still David Scott now checking out in front of the field with Mollick, Hackett, Oakes and Knight now in fifth.

The first yellow of the event came out on lap sixteen for Tony Lombardi who spun coming out of turn four. The running order was still Scott, Mollick, Oakes was now in third with Close and Hackett now fifth. On the restart, Jason Dupont spun in turn one to bring out the yellow again. The next restart saw Scott pull away as the battle for second was on between Mollick, Oakes, Close and Hackett. The top five were the same with ten to go as Scott was in another zipcode in Ashtabula county. The battle now was for third between Close and Oakes again. Close would get the spot on lap 22 and chase after Mollick as the car now on the charge was Bump Hedman who grabbed sixth with six to go. The final laps saw position changes galore as with four remaining, Hedman would lose sixth to Mike Knight but the very next lap would see Hedman get sixth back as night fell to eighth behind Hedman and Hackett. Hedman would move into the top five with three to go. As Close would get Mollick with two to go for second and Hedman now was up to fourth in his late race charge. As the field crossed the striped for the finish it was David Scott by himself with Close charing to second over a very fast moving Bump Hedman, Mollick slipped to fourth and Oakes came home fifth in a brand new car.

David Scott's win was his sixth career ULMS win and became the sixth different winner this year on the Northern Tier Inc ULMS tour,. Scott was driving the Bill Henry #21* machine as Henry is out of action with a shoulder injury and he couldn't pick a better driver than "Slowride". The Northern Tier Inc ULMS Late Models will return to action next Saturday, June 20 at McKean County Raceway in the Nancy Bly Memorial paying $2000 to win.
